Search Engine Submissions & RegistrationThe following chart gives you the essential submission or registration links to the major search engines and directories. Read our search engine optimization tutorial and our introduction to search engine submissions before you start. Please note that the old Excite search engine has been discontinued, while Northern Light has been closed to the general public and does not accept more search engine submissions. AltaVista and AlltheWeb are no longer search engines in their own right, but fetches search results from the Yahoo! Search Engine. See also the Pandia Plus Directory's lists of search engine optimization firms and website promotion software. Advanced users may use sitemap XML files to inform the search engines about changes on their sites. Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft Live Search follows the Sitemaps standard. |

For the rest of the search engine pack you can safely use an automatic online search engine submission and registration software like Search Engine Commando. Make sure, however, that your pages are not submitted to any free-for-all "link farms", as this may lead to your site being banned from some search engines.
