Newsfinder help

The Pandia Newsfinder is a news metasearch engine that lets you search many of the best search sites on the Net in one go, including Yahoo!, BBC and the Washington Post.

The news metasearch engine will also query Moreover and Newshub, services that contain a wide array of news sources, including USAToday, Reuters, New York Times, ABC, The Financial Times and many more.

We have now excluded our direct search of CNN and MSNBC, as these services do not include the dates of the news messages in their listings. We must therefore use the current date instead, which is not satisfactory.

However, you may nonetheless include these searches by selecting "Pandia News Extended Search" on the pull-down menu. Headlines from CNN and MSNBC may also be included in listings from Moreover and Newshub.

Advanced news searching

The Pandia News Metasearch Engine will not try to "translate" your search phrase into the search query language preferred by the various search engines. Most of them will, however, recognize the following search terms:

Must be present: Use the plus sign to force a word to be present in the results., like this: +Apple (Note: There should be no space between the + and the word.)

May be present: Simply separate by spaces for optional inclusion: +Apple Jobs. Please note, however, that CNN will return documents containing all of the words in the query only.

Must not be present: Use the minus sign to expressly exclude a term from results: +Apple Jobs -fruit

Phrases: Wrap phrases in quotation marks: "Steve Jobs" "Apple Macintosh"

BBC, MSNBC and The Wall Street Journal also accept the Boolean queries AND, NOT and OR.

Enter more words to get more focused results.

Words are not necessarily searched in the order in which you type them.
